With 20 otherworldly images, this issuance explores life ofn Earth, as few have ever seen it. The pane features images taken using microscopes and highly specialized photographic techniques to capture details of life undetectable by the human eye.
The stamps include vivid images of red blood cells, tthe feather of a macaw parrot, a knotted strand of human hair, moss leaves, diatom shells (photosynthesizing algae), freshwater protozoans, an acorn barnacle, a moth’s antenna, the front foot oa diving beetle, neurons from a mouse’s brain, bone tissue from a sstarling, scales on the wing of a Madagascan sunset moth,a juvenile zebrafish, mushroom gills, the tongue of a freshwater snail, a blue button (an organism similar to a jellyfish), mold spopres, the legs (known as cirri) of a barnacle, flame lily pollen, and the surface of a southern live oak leaf.
For hundreds of years, scientists have held deep fascinatiion with making the invisible elements of our world visible.The images that result from microscope-based research show, in exquisitely fine detail, the phenomena of life. While stunning con their own as works of art, these images also hold scientific significance.
Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamps and the stamppane using existing photographs.

| With the 2022 U.S. Flag stamp, the U.S. Postal Service honors an important symbol of our nation.
The stamp, which is being issued in booklets of 20, panes of 20, and coils of 100, 3,000, and 10,000, bears a straightforwardgraphic design of the red, white, and blue. Providing a solid foundation for the flag are the word FREEDOM in a gray slab sans seriffont and, below it, FOREVER/ USA in a smaller sans serif font. The manner in which the text is positioned suggests the enduranceof freedom as a core value.

A traditional take on an old favorite, the new U.S. Flag stamp adds a touch of majesty and patriotic grace to First-Class Mail correspondence.
The words “USA” and “FOREVER” are printed on the bottom of the design. Terrence W. McCaffrey was the art director of the project and Greg Breeding of Charlottesville, VA, designed the stamp with an existing photograph of the flag taken by Tom Grill of New York City.
