  | With the 2022 U.S. Flag stamp, the U.S. Postal Service honors an important symbol of our nation.
The stamp, which is being issued in booklets of 20, panes of 20, and coils of 100, 3,000, and 10,000, bears a straightforwardgraphic design of the red, white, and blue. Providing a solid foundation for the flag are the word FREEDOM in a gray slab sans seriffont and, below it, FOREVER/ USA in a smaller sans serif font. The manner in which the text is positioned suggests the enduranceof freedom as a core value.

For more than half a century, U.S. stamps have depicted the American flag in vivid red, white, and blue. Whether paired with famous landmarks, shown against inspiring vistas, placed in their historical context or used as a graphic element in a larger design, the flags on U.S. stamps connect us to our nation’s history and serve as icons of patriotism for generations to come. | Among the stamps of the new zodiac series launched in 2020, the Year of the Ox stamp is the second. The first set of Zodiac stamps was issued between 1992 and 2005, and the second set between 2008 and 2019.
The mask design on the stamp incorporates symbolic elements. Some of these patterns are made in the style of Asian textiles. Purple flowers represent the arrival of spring. In Chinese culture, the Lunar New Year also marks the arrival of spring. The star in the center of the bull's head represents the celestial phenomena of the Chinese zodiac.
Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp with original artwork by Camille Chew. Sold in blocks of 20, the Forever stamp will always be worth the current 1-ounce price of first-class mail.
The Year of the Ox begins on February 12, 2021 and ends on January 31, 2022. People born in the same year are believed to have the same personality traits and other attributes as the zodiac they belong to. For example, the belief holds that the Ox and people born in the year of the Ox are honest, hardworking and very dependable.
There are many traditions in welcoming a new year that brings good luck and prosperity. In communities across the U.S., people shop for holiday food and other supplies, hang decorations and ceremoniously clean their homes to usher in a new year.
